LIVE IN PUBLIC PRESENTS OUTDOOR DANCE PERFORMANCE
IN CITY HEIGHTS JULY 2020

San Diego artists Anna Brown Massey and Viktor De La Fuente present a new outdoor dance work made for social distancing Friday July 24 and Saturday July 25

Chamoune is a dance theater work that evokes the cooperation and conflict in sharing space on city land. Anna Brown Massey and Viktor De La Fuente (La Rara Noche) have constructed a paean to the neighborhood, drawing rhythms, poetry, and movement from the permeability of a private front lawn on a public street. Tickets and info via liveinpublic.org >

Director Massey shares, “As our movement grows more limited, trapped in homes and 6 feet from loved ones, I’ve grown more intimately involved with my neighbors. This closeness was magnified as Viktor and I undertook rehearsals on a front lawn where every practice became a performance itself. We were watched, danced with, and queried. From this process Chamoune invokes the block party, the front porch garden, and the neighbor conversations that emerged from our very public process.”

Each 20-minute performance is planned for an audience of four households of 1 to 3 people. Each household is separated by 6 feet and situated 7 feet from the performers. Tickets are by reservation only. Reservations are available for 5pm, 6pm, and 7pm performances on Friday July 24 and Saturday July 25.

In recognition of the economic crisis suffered unequally, if you are unable to pay, your performance is free. If you are able to donate, we offer your household a sliding scale from $20 - 100. Your donation will pay the artists for their work. 5% of all donations will be given to the City Heights’ United Women of East Africa

COVID-19

Each performance is for an audience of four households of 1 to 3 people set 6-feet apart. Masks are required, and audience members in separate households are expected to maintain distance. The two performers keep a 6-foot distance from each other at all times and a 7-foot distance from all audience members. They do not wear masks while performing.
